As a bit of weather trivia some might find hard to believe, the record hottest temperature in Kansas City of 113 degrees is exactly 13 degrees hotter than the all-time hottest temperature ever recorded in Miami, Florida. Kansas City is roughly 1,400 miles northwest of Miami.
  • Hottest Temperature Ever Recorded in Missouri is 118 Degrees 
The all-time record hottest temperature ever recorded in the state of Missouri is 118 degrees, which occurred on July 14, 1954, in both Warsaw and Union. Warsaw, Missouri is located about 100 miles southeast of Kansas City, while Union is some 220 miles to the east.


The difference between the all-time hottest temperature ever recorded in Kansas City (113) and the all-time hottest temperature ever recorded in the state of Missouri (118) is five degrees. Not a large difference, but still a significant statistical difference.
All-time Record Coldest Temperature Ever Recorded in Kansas City is -23 Degrees
The coldest temperature ever officially recorded in the city of Kansas City is -23 degrees, which occurred on two different dates. The two dates were both in 1989, and they were consecutively on December 22nd and December 23rd.
Below zero weather temperature days are not common in Kansas City, but when cold snaps occur it can get pretty frigid in the city. Since 1888, Kansas City has had seven days when the temperature was -20 degrees or colder.

The coldest temperature ever officially recorded in the state of Missouri is -40 degrees, which occurred on February 13, 1905 in Warsaw.


The city of Warsaw is one of the few places in the United States which has recorded both the hottest and coldest temperatures in a state. It does not hold the Missouri record alone, though, since it shares the hottest temperature with Union.
The difference between the all-time coldest temperature ever recorded in Kansas City (-23) and the all-time coldest temperature ever recorded in the state of Missouri (-40) is 17 degrees. A big statistical difference.
Overall, while it can get pretty hot in the summer and pretty cold in the winter in Kansas City, the city still has a somewhat milder climate than the extremes that can be found in the state of Missouri.
