Record Hottest and Coldest Weather Temperatures Ever Recorded in Ontario, California

Here are the record hottest and coldest temperatures ever officially recorded in Ontario, California.

Located in Southern California about 35 miles east of Los Angeles, the city of Ontario has much milder temperature variations than the extremes found in the state of California. Ontario bills itself as the economic heart of the Inland Empire region of Southern California.

The hottest weather temperature ever officially recorded in Ontario, California is 114 degrees which occurred on July 22, 2006. 

Without any doubt Ontario is a warm weather city. Days when the temperature reaches 90 degrees or more are common in Ontario and can occur in the city in every month of the year except December. The earliest 90 degree day in Ontario was on January 31, 2003, and the latest 90 degree day was on November 19, 2006.

Days when the temperature soars to over 100 degrees are also pretty common in Ontario and can occur from April through October. The earliest 100 degree day in Ontario occurred on April 20, 2009, and the latest 100 degree day occurred on October 22, 2003.

The hottest temperature ever recorded in the state of California and the world is 134 degrees which occurred on July 13, 1913, at the Greenland Ranch in Death Valley. Ontario is located about 200 miles as the crow flies southwest of Death Valley.

The difference between the all-time hottest temperature in Ontario (114) and the all-time hottest temperature in California (134) is 20 degrees. A big sized difference statistically and it certainly gets hot in both of these cool places to visit in California. 

All-Time Record Coldest Weather Temperature Ever Recorded in Ontario is 25 Degrees

The coldest weather temperature ever officially recorded in Ontario, California is 25 degrees which occurred on January 14, 2007. 

Below freezing temperature days are not common in Ontario and only occur from December to February if they occur at all in any year. The earliest below freezing day in Ontario occurred on December 2, 2004, and the latest below freezing day occurred on February 3, 2002.

  • Coldest Temperature Ever Recorded in California is -45 Degrees

The coldest temperature ever recorded in the state of California is -45 degrees, which occurred on January 20, 1937, in Boca. The town of Boca is now mostly gone submerged under the Boca Dam which was built in 1939 and is located along Route 80 north of Lake Tahoe.

The difference between the all-time coldest temperature ever recorded in Ontario (25) and the all-time coldest temperature in the state of California (-45) is 70 degrees. A huge difference and a much larger a difference than the hottest temperatures between the city and state.

Overall, Ontario is a city with very moderate weather temperatures and this Southern California economic leading city located 35 miles east of Los Angeles has a much milder climate in temperature variations than the extremes found in the state of California and in most cities and places in the United States.
