The hottest month of the year in Chicago is July with an average daily temperature of 73.2 degrees, followed by August at 71.7 degrees. The next hottest month is June at 68.6 degrees followed by September at 64.4 degrees.
Chicago has had some 65 days since 1872 when the temperature rose to 100 degrees or hotter. The earliest 100 degree day in any year since 1872 was June 1, 1934, when it was 102 degrees, and the latest 100 degree day was on September 7, 1960, when it was 100 degrees exactly.
