Located at the base of 14,110 foot high Pike's Peak in the Rocky Mountains, Colorado Springs is a popular destination for tourists. I've been to the city a few times, and have always enjoyed visiting places like the Garden of the Gods, the United States Air Force Academy, the U.S. Olympic Training Center, all the great public parks in the area, and of course Pike's Peak itself, which you can drive up.

Below zero weather temperatures are not rare in Colorado Springs, as the city averages about five days a year when the temperature drops below zero. Colorado Springs averages a whopping 161 days a year when the temperature drops below the freezing mark.

Overall, the city of Colorado Springs has a much milder climate than the extremes found in the state of Colorado. Colorado Springs never comes close to getting as hot or as cold as the extremes found in the Rocky Mountain State.
