Even though Yosemite is a warm weather place during the day in summer it can get below freezing here in every month of the year except July and August and both those months have had days when it was exactly 32 degrees. The latest below freezing date in Yosemite was on June 30, 1913, and the earliest below freezing date was on September 5, 1912.

The coldest temperature ever recorded in the state of California is -45 degrees, which occurred on January 20, 1937, in Boca. The town of Boca is now mostly gone submerged under the Boca Dam which was built in 1939 and is located along Route 80 north of Lake Tahoe.
