Located along the Atlantic Ocean on Florida's central east coast, Cape Canaveral is the home of the Kennedy Space Center which is NASA's primary launch center for human spaceflight and the area has generally mild weather variations in temperatures and much milder temperature variations than the extremes found in the state of Florida.

The hottest weather temperature ever officially recorded in Cape Canaveral, Florida is 103 degrees which occurred on both July 22, 1942 and June 5, 1985.

Cape Canaveral is certainly a warm weather place. Days when the temperature reaches 90 degrees can occur in the area from late February all the way to late November in any given year. Days when the temperature reaches 100 degrees or more are not overly common but they certainly do occur. The earliest 100 degree weather temperature date in Cape Canaveral was on May 13, 1967, and the latest 100 degree day was on September 6, 1921.

The hottest temperature ever recorded in the state of Florida is 109 degrees which occurred on June 29, 1931, in Monticello which is located about 260 miles northwest of Cape Canaveral.

All-Time Record Coldest Weather Temperature Ever Recorded in Cape Canaveral is 19 Degrees

The coldest weather temperature ever officially recorded in Cape Canaveral, Florida is 19 degrees which occurred on January 26, 1905, January 22, 1985 and December 23, 1989. Below freezing weather temperature days are not common in Cape Canaveral but they can occur from late November to early March in any given year.

  • Coldest Temperature Ever Recorded in Florida is -2 Degrees

The coldest temperature ever recorded in the state of Florida is -2 degrees, which occurred on February 13, 1899, in Tallahassee which is located about 290 miles northwest of Cape Canaveral. On February 13, 1899, the Great Blizzard of 1899 struck the northeastern part of North America spreading record cold temperatures all the way down to Cuba and bringing the only below zero temperature reading ever recorded in Florida. 

The difference between the all-time coldest temperature ever recorded in Cape Canaveral (19) and the all-time coldest temperature in the state of Florida (-2) is 21 degrees. A big difference and a much larger difference than the hottest temperatures between the area and the state.

Overall, Cape Canaveral is a place with very moderate weather temperatures and the home of the Kennedy Space Center has a milder climate in temperature variations than the extremes found in the state of Florida and almost all cities in the United States.
