The coldest temperature ever recorded in the state of Arizona is -40 degrees, which occurred on January 7, 1971, at Hawley Lake which is located 350 miles northeast of Yuma in the White Mountains in Arizona. 

The difference between the all-time coldest temperature ever recorded in Yuma (22) and the all-time coldest temperature in the state of Arizona (-40) is 62 degrees. Just a massive sized difference.

Overall, Yuma has a much milder climate from a temperature perspective than the extremes in the state of Arizona and a much milder climate than almost all cities in the United States.
