All-time Record Hottest and Coldest Temperatures Ever Recorded in Atlanta

Official weather records have been kept in Atlanta, Georgia since 1878. These are the all-time record hottest and coldest temperatures ever recorded in Atlanta since 1878.

Atlanta is certainly known as a city that can get pretty hot in the summer, but the city can also get pretty cold in the winter too. Atlanta's all-time coldest temperature is not much above New York City's all-time coldest temperature.
In general, Atlanta has a slightly milder climate than the extremes that can be found in the state of Georgia. This is born out by the differences between the all-time hottest and coldest temperatures in Atlanta, compared to the all-time hottest and coldest temperatures in the state of Georgia.
The difference between the record hottest and coldest temperatures in Atlanta is 115 degrees. The difference between the record hottest and coldest temperatures in Georgia is 129; a difference of only 14 total degrees.

Considering Atlanta is known as a city where it usually gets pretty hot in the summer, a record high temperature of 106 degrees does not seem that high. But in Atlanta, it's the high humidity levels in the summer that make the city feel so hot. I've been to Atlanta a number of times in the summer, and it certainly felt hotter than 106 degrees many times.

That is a little higher difference than the all-time hottest temperatures in Atlanta and Georgia, but is still not that large a difference. I think it's safe to say that the weather temperatures in Atlanta are usually similar to the temperatures found throughout Georgia, certainly that is true for the record temperatures in the city and the state.
