All-time Record Hottest and Coldest Temperatures Ever Recorded in Orlando, Florida

Weather temperatures have been officially kept in Orlando, Florida since 1892. These are the all-time record hottest and coldest temperatures ever recorded in Orlando since 1892.

Located in the central part of Florida, the city of Orlando tends to have a milder climate than the extremes that can be found in the state of Florida. This is born out by the differences between the all-time hottest and coldest temperatures ever recorded in Orlando, compared to the all-time hottest and coldest temperatures recorded in the state of Florida.

The difference between the all-time hottest and coldest temperatures ever recorded in Orlando is 85 degrees. The difference between the all-time hottest and coldest temperatures ever recorded in the state of Florida is 111 degrees; a difference of 26 degrees.
Record Hottest and Coldest Temperatures Ever Recorded in Orlando, Florida
All-time Record Hottest Temperature Ever Recorded in Orlando is 103 Degrees
The hottest temperature ever officially recorded in the city of Orlando is 103 degrees, which occurred on September 8, 1921.
It might be surprising to some, but 100 degree days are relatively rare in Orlando. Since 1892, the city has only had about three dozen days when the temperature reached or exceeded 100 degrees.
I've been to Disney World and other places in Orlando in the summer on a number of occasions, and it certainly felt like it was 100 degrees on many days. Orlando has a very high humidity level, and that makes it seem much hotter than the actual temperature.
Millions of people visit the great attractions in Orlando, like Disney World, Universal Studios Florida, and SeaWorld, every year, and I'm sure the temperature in the summer feels much hotter than it actually is to them too.
It might also surprise some people to know that the record hottest temperature in Orlando is three degrees warmer than the hottest temperature ever recorded in Miami, even though Miami is over 200 miles south of Orlando.
  • Hottest Temperature Ever Recorded in Florida is 109 Degrees
The all-time record hottest temperature ever recorded in the state of Florida is 109 degrees, which occurred on June 29, 1931, in Monticello. Located about 200 miles northwest of Orlando, the city of Monticello was named for the Virginia estate of Thomas Jefferson, and the city is the county seat of Jefferson County, Florida.

The difference between the all-time hottest temperature ever recorded in Orlando (103) and the all-time hottest temperature ever recorded in the state of Florida (109) is six degrees. Not a huge difference, but still a significant statistical difference.
All-time Record Coldest Temperature Ever Recorded in Orlando is 18 Degrees
The coldest temperature ever officially recorded in the city of Orlando is 18 degrees, which occurred on December 28, 1894. Below freezing temperatures are not common in Orlando, as the city averages just two days a year when the temperature drops below 32 degrees.
Since 1892, Orlando has only had nine days when the temperature dropped to 20 degrees or lower. Most people, including myself, who live in areas where the temperature routinely drops below 20 degrees in the winter, are jealous of the folks living in Orlando in the winter.
  • Coldest Temperature Ever Recorded in Florida is -2 Degrees
The coldest temperature ever officially recorded in the state of Florida is -2 degrees, which occurred on February 13, 1899, in the capital city of Tallahassee.

The record low temperature in Florida occurred during the Great Blizzard of 1899, when a huge cold snap stretched across the eastern part of the United States and extended all the way into Florida. The temperature dropped to 20 degrees in Orlando during the Great Blizzard of 1899.
The difference between the all-time coldest temperature ever recorded in Orlando (18) and the all-time coldest temperature ever recorded in the state of Florida (-2) is 20 degrees. A big statistical difference.
Overall, the city of Orlando has a much milder climate than the extremes that can be found in the state of Florida.
