The coldest weather temperature ever officially recorded in El Cajon, California is 19 degrees which occurred on January 8, 1913. 

Below freezing temperature nights generally occur in Escondido from late November to February in any given year. The earliest below freezing day in Escondido occurred on October 12, 1924, and the latest below freezing date was on May 6, 2003.

  • Coldest Temperature Ever Recorded in California is -45 Degrees

The coldest temperature ever recorded in the state of California is -45 degrees, which occurred on January 20, 1937, in Boca. The town of Boca is now mostly gone submerged under the Boca Dam which was built in 1939 and is located along Route 80 north of Lake Tahoe.

The difference between the all-time coldest temperature ever recorded in El Cajon (19) and the all-time coldest temperature in the state of California (-45) is 64 degrees. A huge difference and a much larger a difference than the hottest temperatures between the city and state.

Overall, El Cajon is a city with mostly moderate weather temperatures and this Bog Box city in Southern California has a much milder climate in temperature variations than the extremes found in the state of California or in most cities in the United States.
