12 Cities in California That Have Been -20 Degrees Below Zero

Most people think of California as a warm weather place where it's almost always warm and sunny. That may be true for many parts of the state but here is a list of places and cities that have recorded weather temperature readings of -20 degrees below zero at least once according to the National Weather Service.

For each city or place listed below the record coldest temperature is also listed and then any recent really cold below zero weather temperatures are also listed. Most of the cities and places on the list are from Western and Northwestern California. There are many more places that could be listed like Canby, Seirraville and Markleeville but the baker's dozen here serves its purpose to show some places in California get ridiculously cold in the winter.

There are plenty of other places in California that have experienced below zero weather temperatures like Big Bear Lake which is less than 100 miles from Los Angeles. The record coldest weather temperature for Big Bear Lake is -14 degrees which falls a bit short to make this list.

The record coldest place in California is listed first and then all the other cities and places are listed alphabetically. The list is designed to show people that not all of California is sunny and warm all the time. Hope you like the list.
