In addition to the record hottest temperature and places to visit for each month, I'm also listing the date and year the record occurred. As most people already know Phoenix is a hot weather city, but just how hot does it get in each month of the year?
The temperature records below date back to 1895. All the weather data is from the National Weather Service.
January - 88 degrees
The record high temperature for January in Phoenix is 88 degrees, which occurred on January 19, 1971.
A great place to visit in Phoenix in January is South Mountain Park where you can get fantastic views of the city as you hike the desert trails. Being at the park's lookout point at dusk as the lights come on in Phoenix down below is pretty cool.
February - 92 degrees
The hottest temperature ever recorded in Phoenix in February is 92 degrees and it has been reached twice. The first time was on February 25, 1921, and the second time was on February 27, 1986.
Taliesen West was famed architect Frank Lloyd Wright's winter home near Phoenix and it's a great place to visit in February.
March - 100 degrees
The hottest temperature record for March is exactly 100 degrees, which occurred on March 26, 1988.
The Phoenix Zoo is a great place to visit in March. There are over 1,400 animals in the zoo with the biggest draws being the Sumatran Tigers and the orangutans exhibits.
April - 105 degrees
The record high for April in Phoenix is 105 degrees and it has been reached three times. The first time was on April 20, 1989, the second time on April 29, 1992 and the third time on April 22, 2012.
April is the perfect month to visit the Desert Botanical Garden in Phoenix. The gardens here are known for their vast collections of agave (used to make tequila) and cactus plants.
May - 114 degrees
The record hottest temperature for May in Phoenix is 114 degrees and it occurred on May 30, 1910.
As the temperatures heat up in May in Phoenix it's a good time to visit indoor museums like the unique Musical Instrument Museum. With over 15,000 musicalinstruments on display this is easily the largest museum of its kind in the world.
June - 122 degrees
The hottest temperature ever recorded in Phoenix is the June record of 122 degrees, which occurred on June 26, 1990.
The famous Heard Museum featuring American Indian artwork from the Southwest is a great place to visit in June in Phoenix.
July - 121 degrees
The record high temperature for July is 121 degrees, which was recorded on July 28, 1995.
A great place for the whole family to cool off in Phoenix in the month of July is the Six Flags Hurrican Harbor Phoenix amusement park. There are over 14 water rides, seven water slides and two huge pools to cool off in the fun park.
August - 117 degrees
The hottest temperature ever recorded in Phoenix in August is 117 degrees, which has happened twice. The first time was on August 26, 2011, and the second time was on August 14, 2015.
August is a good month to visit the cool Phoenix Art Museum. The 285,000 square foot museum contains over 18,000 works of art from around the world and also features great traveling international exhibitions.
September - 116 degrees
The record high for September in Phoenix is 116 degrees, which occurred on September 1, 1950.
The Arizona Science Center is a great place to visit in September. The center has tons of interactive exhibits in seven galleries and also has the Dorrance Planetarium and a five-story giant screen IMAX theater.

October in Phoenix means it's time for the Arizona State Fair, which takes place annually at the Arizona State Fairgrounds.

The record high temperature for November in Phoenix is 96 degrees which has happened three times. The first and second times were on November 1st and 2nd in 1924, and the third time was on November 3, 2009.
As the temperatures cool down in Phoenix in November it's the perfect time to go for a hike or a run in Papago Park, which is right in the city.

A great place to visit in Phoenix in December is Tovrea Castle. Resembling a wedding cake this unique castle offers tours and is a Phoenix landmark.
