For all the people living in Houston and all the tourists thinking of visiting the city, here is a list of the hottest temperature records for each month of the year.
The list can be very useful for tourists visiting Houston at any time of the year. Also listed for each month are great places to visit in the Houston area during that time of the year.
In addition to the hottest temperature record and places to visit for each month, I'm also listing the date and year when the record occurred. As you can see below, Houston is certainly a warm weather city.
The temperature records below date back to 1889. All the weather temperature data is from the National Weather Service.
January - 84 degrees
The record high temperature for January in Houston is a balmy 84 degrees and it has been reached twice. The first time was on January 30, 1911, and the second time was on January 26, 1975.
January is a great time to visit the 567 foot high San Jacinto Monument that commemorates the decisive Battle of San Jacinto where Texans won their freedom from Mexico during the Texas Revolution in 1836. The monuments observation deck offers views of Houston and the surrounding area.

February - 91 degrees
The hottest temperature record for February in Houston is 91 degrees. That record was set on February 20, 1986.
February is a great month to visit the Houston Zoo, which contains some 6,000 animals from over 600 different species. Over 2 million people a year visit the Houston Zoo, making it the second most visited zoo in the country.
March - 96 degrees
The record high temperature for March in Houston is 96 degrees. That temperature record occurred on March 30, 1946.
Space Center Houston is the perfect place to visit in March. Over 1 million people a year visit Space Center Houston to see artifacts, exhibits and galleries about America's spaceflight program including Moon rocks, land rovers, lunar and command modules, and much more.
April - 95 degrees
The hottest temperature ever recorded in Houston in April is 95 degrees, which occurred on April 28, 1987.
April is a great month to visit the outdoor activities available in Hermann Park. Featured in the park are gardens, picnic areas, walking and running trails, McGovern Lake, the Mary Gibbs and Jesse H. Jones Reflection Pool and the iconic bronze sculpture Sam Houston Monument.

The hottest temperature record for May in Houston is 99 degrees. That record high occurred on May 29, 1996.
A great place to visit in the month of May is the Houston Arboretum and Nature Center. There are over five miles of nature trails here and the price is right as admission is free for all.
June - 107 degrees
The record high temperature in June in Houston is 107 degrees. That record hottest temperature occurred on June 29, 2013.
As the weather heats up in Houston in June, a great place to visit is the Gerald D. Hines Waterwall Park in Uptown. This popular tourist attraction is a huge concrete fountain that operates daily between 10 AM and 9 PM.
July - 105 degrees
The hottest temperature record for July in Houston is 105 degrees. That record high was recorded on July 26, 1954.
A cool place to visit in July is the Houston Museum of Natural Science. Over two million people a year visit here annually, making it one of the most visited museums in the United States.
August - 109 degrees
The hottest temperature ever recorded in Houston is 109 degrees and it occurred on August 27, 2011.
Another cool place to visit in the city in the heat of summer is the Museum of Fine Arts, Houston. This huge museum, one of the largest in the United States, contains over 64,000 works of art dating as far back as 6,000 years.
September - 109 degrees
The hottest temperature record for Houston is 109 degrees, which was first reached on September 4, 2000.
September is the perfect month to visit Bayou Park in Houston. This huge 130,000 square foot entertainment complex contains great bars, restaurants and a bunch of heavily air-conditioned movie theaters.
October - 99 degrees
The hottest temperature record for Houston in October is 99 degrees, which occurred on October 1, 1900.
As the weather starts to cool in Houston in October, a great place to visit is the 160-acre greenspace called Buffalo Bayou Park. Situated along the 2.3 mile stretch of the slow moving Buffalo Bayou waterway, this beautiful park contains gardens, hiking and biking trails, public art, picnic areas and two visitor centers.
November - 89 degrees
The record high temperature for November in Houston is 89 degrees. Astonishingly, the record high of 89 degrees has been reached seven times. The earliest date was on November 14, 1921 and the latest is on November 7, 2018.
November is a great month to head on down to Galveston and visit the beautiful beaches and visitor attractions in the resort city.
December - 85 degrees
The hottest temperature record for December in Houston is 85 degrees, which occurred on December 3, 1995.
December is the perfect month in Houston to head to the Galleria, which is the largest shopping mall in Texas and seventh largest in the United States. The Galleria contains a 20,000 square foot ice skating rink and a running track on the roof which looks down to the ice rink.
