Hottest Weather Cities in the United States

Cities in the United States with the highest average annual temperatures. Each one of the cities has an average annual temperature of 72 degrees or better. 

These are not necessarily the best weather cities in the United States because some of these cities get plenty of rain each year but these are the cities to live in if you dislike cold weather. None of these cities ever gets really cold and all of them see their populations swell in the winter months as tourists, visitors and snowbirds flock to the hottest weather cities in the United States.




Hottest Weather Cities in the United States


1) Key West, Florida - 77.7 degrees average annual temperature
Key West in Florida is the hottest city in the United States with an annual average temperature of 77.7 degrees. It is also the most southern city in the Continental United States as it is located at the end of Highway 1 at the southern end of the Florida Keys.
Key West is a huge tourist city especially in the winter when Northerner's flock to the hotels, motels, seasonal rentals and great restaurants and bars in Key West to escape the cold and snow of winter. The hottest temperature ever recorded in Key West is 100 degrees and the coldest temperature ever recorded in the resort city is 41 degrees.
2) Miami, Florida - 75.6 degrees
Miami ranks second with an average annual temperature of 75.6 degrees. Another popular city with tourists looking to escape the snow and cold in winter. 
The temperature extremes in Miami range from 30 degrees to 98 degrees. Snow flurries have occurred in Miami but never has the city had any accumulation of snow, though city does get plenty of rain. Plenty of great hotels in Miami Beach and South Beach to handle all the tourists in winter.
3) West Palm Beach, Florida - 74.6 degrees
Another Florida city ranks 3rd as West Palm Beach has an annual average temperature of 74.6 degrees. West Palm Beach is located less than 100 miles north of Miami and is known for its historic neighborhoods and communities.
4) Fort Myers, Florida - 73.93 degrees
Fort Myers is located on the west coast of Florida almost directly opposite West Palm Beach on the east coast so its no surprise that the annual average temperature in Fort Myers is 73.9 degrees or very close to what that of West Palm. Almost 600,000 people live in the Fort Myers metro area and the number swells during winter as tourists flock to the south Florida cities.
5) Yuma, Arizona - 73.9 degrees
Yuma, Arizona is the 5th hottest city in the United States with an annual average temperature of 73.9 degrees. Yuma is also the sunniest city in the world receiving 90% of all available sunshine yearly and also the driest city in the United States.
6) Brownsville, Texas - 73.6 degrees
Brownsville is the southernmost city in Texas so it's no surprise it is also the hottest city in Texas and 6th hottest city in the United States with an annual average temperature of 73.6 degrees. With a metro population of 335,000 Brownsville is the 15th largest city in Texas.
7) Orlando, Florida - 72.42 degrees
The home of Mickey Mouse in Disneyland, Orlando ranks 7th with an average annual temperature of 72.4 degrees. Besides Disneyland other big tourist attractions in or near Orlando include Universal Orlando Resort or Universal Studios Florida and Sea World Orlando all of which keep the hotels and motels in Orlando full.
Almost 50 million tourists and people visit the Orlando area every year making it one of the top tourist destinations in the world in no small part due to the mild weather.
8) Vero Beach, Florida - 72.4 degrees
Vero Beach is located along the east coast of Florida less than 100 miles north of West Palm Beach and has an annual average temperature of 72.4 degrees. Known for its resort beaches and Indian River grapefruit Vero Beach is also home to the Piper Aircraft company.
9) Corpus Christi, Texas - 72.1 degrees
Located along the Gulf Coast Corpus Christi is the second hottest city in Texas and 9th hottest city in the United States with an annual average temperature of 72.1 degrees. Corpus Christi is the 8th largest city in Texas with a metro population of 430,000.
10) Tampa, Florida - 72 degrees
Only fitting that another Florida city rounds out the list of top ten hottest cities in the United States. Tampa has an annual average temperature of 72 degrees. With a metor population of some 4 million people the Tampa area is the second largest city in Florida behind Miami. Tamps has many great beaches along the Gulf of Mexico that attracts tourists from the North especially in winter.
