Hottest Temperature Record for Each Month of the Year for Charlotte, North Carolina

Charlotte is one of the most historic, populated, and most-visited cities in the United States. 



For all the people living in the Charlotte area and all the tourists thinking of visiting the city, here is a list of the hottest temperature records for each month of the year.

The list can be very useful for tourists visiting Charlotte at any time of the year. Also listed for each month are great places to visit in Charlotte during that time of the year.

In addition to the record hottest temperature and places to visit for each month, I'm also listing the date and year in which the record occurred. If you are not familiar with Charlotte you might be pretty surprised at some of the record hottest temperatures for each month.

The temperature records below date back to 1878. All the data is from the National Weather Service.

January—79 degrees

The record high temperature for January in Charlotte is 79 degrees, which occurred on both January 28, 1944 and January 29, 2002. It's been 70 degrees or warmer in Charlotte in January dozens of times since 1878.

Since the weather can be cold and unpredictable in January, a great place to visit in Charlotte during the first month of the year is the Discovery Place Science center located at 301 N. Tryon Street.

February—82 degrees

The record high temperature for February in Charlotte is 82 degrees, which occurred on February 25, 1930, February 27, 2011, and February 16, 2018. It's been 80 degrees in February in Charlotte about a dozen times since 1878.

February is another month with unpredictable weather in the city. Another great indoor place to visit is the Bechtler Museum of Modern Art located at 420 S Tryon Street.

March—91 degrees

The record high temperature for March in Charlotte is 91 degrees, which occurred on March 23, 1907. Its only been 90 degrees four times in March.

The best place to visit in Charlotte in March is the NASCAR Hall of Fame located at 400 E Martin Luther King Jr. Blvd.

April—96 degrees

The record high temperature for April in Charlotte is 96 degrees, which occurred on April 24, 1925.

April is a great month to head over to the Daniel Stowe Botanical Garden located in nearby Belmont and see Spring come alive.

May—98 degrees

The record high temperature for May in Charlotte is 98 degrees, which has occurred three times on May 22, May 23, and May 29, 1941.

A great place to visit in May in the city as the weather turns nice is the UNC Charlotte Botanical Gardens located at 9090 Craver Road.

June—104 degrees

The record high temperature for June in Charlotte is 104 degrees, which occurred on both June 29 and June 30, 2012. The 104 degree temperature is the record high for Charlotte for the whole year.

As the weather stays nice in June it's a great time to visit Romare Bearden Park, which features two gardens and several waterfalls right in the heart of the city.

July—104 degrees

The record high temperature for July in Charlotte is 103 degrees, which occurred on July 1, 2012. The 104 degrees is the overall record hottest temperature for Charlotte.

July is a fun time in Charlotte to visit the Carowinds amusement park, which also includes the Carolina Harbor water park to cool down in summer. Thrill seekers should not miss the Fury 325 and the Intimidator rides.

August—104 degrees

The record high temperature for August in Charlotte is 104 degrees, which occurred on August 9 and 10, 2012. The 104 degrees is the hottest temperature ever recorded in Charlotte.

August is a great month in Charlotte to visit the world famous US National Whitewater Center where you can raft or kayak down man-made river channels or zip line over them.

September—104 degrees

The record high temperature for September in Charlotte is 104 degrees. That record high occurred on September 6, 1954. Only June, July, August, and September have hit 100 degrees in the city.

The weather is still pretty good in September, and it's a great time to visit Freedom Park where the five-day long Festival in the Park takes places annually during the month.

October—98 degrees

The record high temperature for October in Charlotte is 98 degrees, which occurred on October 6, 1954.

As the leaves change over and Halloween nears, October is a great time to visit the Carolina Raptor Center located nearby at 6000 Sample Road in Huntersville.

November—85 degrees

The record high temperature for November in Charlotte is 85 degrees, which occurred on November 2, 1961.

A great place to visit in November is the Free Range Brewing site where you can get the latest and greatest homemade craft beers in the Charlotte area.

December—80 degrees

The record high temperature for December in Charlotte is 80 degrees, which occurred on December 3, 2007.

Have fun in December in Charlotte by visiting the month long Charlotte Christmas Village located at the corner of 7th Street and N. Tryon Street in Uptown Charlotte.
