The all-time record hottest temperature ever recorded in the state of Nebraska is 118 degrees, which occurred on July 24, 1936, in Minden, a small city located about 180 miles west of Omaha.


The year 1936 was a very hot one in the United States. A total of 15 states, including Nebraska, set their all-time record hottest temperatures during the summer of 1936. Omaha set its all-time record hottest temperature one day after the Nebraska state record was set in Minden.
The difference between the all-time hottest temperature ever recorded in Omaha (114) and the all-time hottest temperature ever recorded in the state of Nebraska (118) is four degrees. Not much of statistical difference.
All-time Record Coldest Temperature Ever Recorded in Omaha is -32 Degrees
The coldest weather temperature ever officially recorded in Omaha is -32 degrees, which occurred on January 5, 1884.
Below zero temperature readings are not at all rare in Omaha. The city can get very cold in the winter, and below zero temperatures have been recorded as early as November 7th, and as late as March 20th in Omaha.
Since 1871, Omaha has had eight days when the temperature dropped to -25 degrees or colder. Omaha averages 137 days a year when the temperature drops below freezing.

The coldest temperature ever officially recorded in the state of Nebraska is -47 degrees, which occurred on February 12, 1899, in Camp Clarke. The small town of Camp Clarke was located along the North Platte River in western Nebraska, at the south entrance to the bridge built there by Henry Clarke in 1876.


The difference between the all-time coldest temperature ever recorded in Omaha (-32) and the all-time coldest temperature ever recorded in the state of Nebraska (-47) is 15 degrees. A significant statistical difference.
Overall, the city of Omaha has a milder climate than the extremes found in the state of Nebraska. Omaha gets just about as hot as anywhere else in Nebraska in the summer, but does not get as cold in the winter as the extremes found in the Cornhusker State.

  2. I now live in Minden, but just moved from Tempe Arizona, where it was 118 degrees the day I moved there from Omaha (August 5, 1998)...arizona's high was 128 in 1994. But typically we hit 115-116. We had 33 days over 110 in 2011 and average of about 20 days above 110 from 2011-2016, with 28 in 2016.
