Located about 40 miles south of Lake Erie in northeastern Ohio, the city of Akron has a milder climate than the extremes found in the Buckeye State. Due to all the money brought into Akron by the big tire making companies, there are some great visitor attractions located in the area. That includes Stan Hywet Hall and Gardens which was built in Akron by Frank Sieberling, the co-founder of Goodyear. Stan Hywet Hall is one of the largest homes ever built in the United States, and it is open to the public.
Other great attractions in Akron include the Akron Zoo and the Akron Art Museum. Today, Akron is probably best known as the birthplace of NBA great LeBron James. Stephen Curry was also born in the city, as were Basketball Hall of Fame players Nate Thurmond and Gus Johnson.
As a bit of weather trivia some might find hard to believe  the record hottest temperature in Akron of 104 degrees is four degrees hotter than the all-time hottest temperature ever recorded in Miami, Florida. Akron is over 1,200 miles north of Miami.

The all-time record hottest weather temperature ever recorded in the state of Ohio is 113 degrees, which occurred on July 21, 1934, near Gallipolis, which is located about 200 miles south of Akron.


The difference between the all-time hottest temperature ever recorded in Akron (104) and the all-time hottest temperature ever recorded in the state of Ohio (111) is seven degrees. A decent sized statistical difference.

Overall, the city of Akron has a milder climate than the extremes in found in the Buckeye State of Ohio.
