Miami is one of the most populated and most visited cities in the world.
For all the people living in the Miami area and all the tourists thinking of visiting the city, here is a list of the hottest temperature records for each month of the year.
The list can be very useful for tourists visiting Miami at any time of the year. Also listed for each month are great places to visit in Miami during that time of the year.
In addition to the record hottest temperature and places to visit for each month, I'm also listing the date and year in which the record occurred. If you are not familiar with Miami, you might be pretty surprised at some of the record hottest temperatures for each month.
The temperature records below date back to 1895. All the data is from the National Weather Service.
January – 88 degrees
The record high temperature for January in Miami is 88 degrees, which occurred on January 27, 1984, and was matched on January 19, 1987. It's been 80 degrees or warmer in Miami in January countless times since 1895.
Since the weather can sometimes be a little cold and unpredictable in January, a great place to visit in the city during the first month of the year is the Lincoln Road pedestrian mall.
February – 89 degrees
The record high temperature for February in Miami is 89 degrees, which first occurred on February 14, 1948. It's been 89 degrees in February in Miami at least six times.
February is another month with unpredictable weather in the city. Another great indoor place to visit is the Frost Art Museum located on the FIU-Maidique Campus at 10975 SW 17th Street.
March – 93 degrees
The record high temperature for March in Miami is 93 degrees, which occurred on March 22, 2003.
The best place to visit in Miami in March is the beautiful and historic Vizcaya Museum and Gardens located at 3251 South Miami Ave on Biscayne Bay.
April – 96 degrees
The record high temperature for April in Miami is 96 degrees, which first occurred on April 30, 1971, and was matched on April 26, 2015.
April is a great month to head over to the Zoo Miami, located at 12400 SW 152nd Street, and see the over 1,200 wild and exotic animals housed here.
May – 98 degrees
The record high temperature for May in Miami is 98 degrees, which occurred on May 28, 2017.
A great place to visit in May in Miami as the weather turns nice is the Cape Florida Lighthouse located at the south end of Key Biscayne. Climb to the top for incredible views.
June – 98 degrees
The record high temperature for June in Miami is 98 degrees, which first occurred on June 4, 1985, and was matched on both June 22, 2009, and June 24, 2019.
As the weather stays nice in June, it's a great time to visit beautiful Miami Beach and soak up some of the famous Florida sunshine.
July – 100 degrees
The record high temperature for July in Miami is 100 degrees, which occurred on July 21, 1941. The 100 degree temperature is the all-time record high temperature for Miami.
July is a fun time in Miami to cool off at the historic Venetian Pool located at 2701 DeSoto Blvd in nearby Coral Gables.
August – 98 degrees
The record high temperature for August in Miami is 98 degrees, which first occurred on August 6, 1954, as well as on August 9, 1987, and August 1, 1990.
August is a great month to visit the Miami Seaquarium located at 4400 Rickenbacker Causeway on Virginia Key.
September – 97 degrees
The record high temperature for September in Miami is 97 degrees. That record high occurred on September 8, 1987.
The weather is still pretty good in September and it's a great time to visit the two-story open air Bayside Marketplace shopping center located at 401 Biscayne Blvd. Bayside Marketplace is the most visited tourist attraction in Miami.
October – 95 degrees
The record high temperature for October in Miami is 95 degrees, which occurred on October 1, 1980.
As the leaves change over and Halloween nears in Miami, October is a great time to take an Everglades airboat tour. The Everglades are located about 25 miles west of Miami.
November – 91 degrees
The record high temperature for November in Miami is 91 degrees, which occurred on November 6, 2002.
A great place to visit in November is the Phillip and Patricia Frost Museum of Science located at 1101 Biscayne Blvd in Miami.
December – 89 degrees
The record high temperature for December in Miami is 89 degrees, which occurred first on December 13, 1900, and was matched on both December 3, 1902, and December 10, 2009.
Celebrate Christmas and have fun in December in Miami by visiting Santa's Enchanted Forest, the world's largest holiday theme park located at 7900 SW 40th Street.
