I've been to Corpus Christi a few times, and it is a great tourist area. Many people vacation near the city because of the beaches and nearby Padre Island National Seashore. The city is also home to the Texas State Aquarium, the USS Lexington aircraft carrier which is open to the public, and Corpus Christi is the fifth largest port in the United States.
As a bit of weather trivia some might find hard to believe, even though Corpus Christi is located around 400 miles south of Dallas, the city's all-time record hottest temperature of 109 degrees is cooler than Dallas' all-time record.
