Days when the weather temperature reaches or exceeds 100 degrees can occur in Augusta anytime from June through September. The city averages 73 days a year when the temperature reaches 90 degrees or above.
Augusta is most famous as home to The Masters golf tournament every spring in early April. While the city has never had a 100 degree weather temperature day in April, it has certainly had 90 degree days in early April.
I've never played golf at Augusta National where The Masters is held, but I've been to Augusta a few times and it's a nice place to visit. The Masters is one of the four majors played in golf every year, and it's a dream of every professional golfer to win the tournament.
As a bit of weather trivia some might find hard to believe, the record hottest temperature in Augusta of 108 degrees is eight degrees hotter than the all-time hottest temperature ever recorded in Miami, Florida. Augusta is about 600 miles north of Miami.
  • Hottest Temperature Ever Recorded in Georgia is 112 Degrees 
The all-time record hottest temperature ever recorded in the state of Georgia is 112 degrees, which occurred on August 20, 1983, in Greenville, which is located about 150 miles west of Augusta.


The difference between the all-time hottest temperature ever recorded in Augusta (108) and the all-time hottest temperature ever recorded in the state of Georgia (112) is four degrees. Not much of a statistical difference.
All-time Record Coldest Temperature Ever Recorded in Augusta is -1 Degrees
The coldest temperature ever officially recorded in Augusta is -1 degrees, which occurred on January 21, 1985, when a massive arctic chill hit the south.
That is the only below zero temperature reading in the city's history. Augusta is not a cold weather city, but it does average 54 days a year when the temperature drops below the freezing mark.
  • Coldest Temperature Ever Recorded in Georgia is -17 Degrees 
The coldest temperature ever officially recorded in the state of Georgia is -17 degrees, which occurred on January 27, 1940, at the Civilian Conservation Corp Camp F-16, which is located in northwestern Georgia near Lafayette, about 220 miles from Augusta.


The difference between the all-time coldest temperature ever recorded in Augusta (-1) and the all-time coldest temperature ever recorded in the state of Georgia (-17) is 16 degrees. A pretty big statistical difference.
Overall, the city of Augusta has a milder climate than the extremes found in the state of Georgia. While Augusta gets almost as hot as the extremes found in the Peach State, the city stays much warmer in the winter than the extreme cold places in Georgia.

  2. Augusta averages 41 inches of rain a year which is pretty good for the South. That's an average of 3.42" of rain per month. The wettest month of the year is June which averages 4.92". The driest month is October which averages 1.95" of rain. April, when the Masters is held, averages 2.82" of rain which is the 3rd driest month in Augusta.
