Hottest Weather Temperature Record for Each Month of the Year for Honolulu, Hawaii

Honolulu is the most populated city in Hawaii and one of the most visited cities in the world. 



For all the people living in Honolulu and all the tourists thinking of visiting the city, here is a list of the hottest temperature records for each month of the year.

The list can be very useful for tourists visiting Honolulu at any time of the year. Also listed for each month are great places to visit in Honolulu during that time of the year.

In addition to the record hottest temperature and places to visit for each month, I'm also listing the date and year when the record occurred. Most people think of Honolulu as a warm weather city, but just how warm does it get in the largest city in Hawaii?

The temperature records below date back to 1890. All the weather data is from the National Weather Service.

January - 88 degrees

The hottest temperature ever recorded in Honolulu in January is 88 degrees, and the record occurred on January 21, 1996.

The most visited site in Honolulu is Pearl Harbor, and January is a great month to visit this historic site. You will not want to miss a visit to the USS Arizona Memorial right in the harbor.

February - 88 degrees

The record high temperature for February in Honolulu is 88 degrees, and it occurred on February 11, 1984.

February is a great month to visit Shangri-La, the Hawaiian winter home of Doris Duke, who was the wealthiest woman in the world when she built this retreat near Honolulu. Make sure to reserve tickets well before your trip to visit Shangri-La.

March - 89 degrees

The hottest temperature record for March in Honolulu is 89 degrees, and the record high occurred on March 17, 1960.

March is a great month to head on over to the theme park and living museum called the Polynesian Culture Center located on the northern shore of Oahu outside of Honolulu. The live shows here will give you a great taste of early Hawaiian life.

April - 91 degrees

The record high for April in Honolulu is 91 degrees, and that record was set on April 28, 1996.

April is the perfect month to go to the Koko Crater and hike the Koko Crater Railway Trail to the top where you get spectacular views of Honolulu. You can also visit the Koko Crater Botanical Garden.

May - 93 degrees

The hottest temperature ever recorded in Honolulu in May is 93 degrees, and the record occurred on May 31, 1998.

The Lyon Arboretum is the perfect place to visit in Honolulu in May. Run by the University of Hawaii, this 154-acre botanical rain forest contains over 5,000 tropical plants. Do not miss the nearby 150 foot high Manoa Falls waterfall. Along the drive to the arboretum are numerous lookouts featuring magnificent views of Honolulu.

June - 92 degrees

The hottest temperature record for June in Honolulu is 92 degrees, and the record has been reached over eight times. The first time was on June 25, 1987 and the latest time was on June 10, 2019.

June is a great month to go to the Diamond Head Crater. This stunning park that is a true landmark in Honolulu and Hawaii and features a trail that leads to the top of Diamond Head Crater that overlooks the city, and also in the park is Diamond Head Beach.

July - 94 degrees

The record high temperature for July in Honolulu is 94 degrees, and the record was set on July 15, 1995.

July is the perfect month to kick back and relax on the world's best known beach called Waikiki.

August - 94 degrees

The hottest temperature record for August in Honolulu is 94 degrees, and that record was set on August 11, 2019.

Why not visit world famous Hanauma Bay in August? Just be warned, the park is closed on Tuesdays to allow the fish in the bay one free feeding day without having to deal with swimming tourists.

September - 95 degrees

The hottest temperature ever recorded in Honolulu is 95 degrees, which occurred on September 19, 1994.

September is a good month to visit Sea Life Park Hawaii where you can even swim with the dolphins if you dare.

October - 94 degrees

The record hottest temperature for October in Honolulu is 94 degrees, which occurred on October 6, 1984.

October is the perfect month to take a tour of the Dole Pineapple Plantation located on the North Shore of Oahu. Here you can see how pineapples are grown and harvested, get delicious free samples of the best pineapple you will ever taste and take a ride on the Pineapple Express Train Tour.

November - 93 degrees

The record high temperature for Honolulu in November is 93 degrees, and it occurred on November 6, 1986.

The Bishop Museum, the largest museum in Hawaii, is the perfect place to visit in Honolulu in November. This natural history and science museum has the world's largest collection of Polynesian artifacts.

December - 89 degrees

The record high temperature for December in Honolulu is 89 degrees, and it has been reached at least seven times. The first time was on December 13, 1977 and the latest time was on December 15, 1995.

December is a great month to visit the Aloha Tower at Pier 9 in Honolulu Harbor. Take a ride to the top of this iconic lighthouse for spectacular views of the city and surrounding area.
