10 Most Humid Weather Cities in the United States

These are the ten most humid weather cities in the United States. Three of these cities are located in Texas, while the states of Washington, Louisiana and Florida have two cities each on the list and the state of Oregon has one. 

All of these cities are either located along or near the Gulf Coast or inland from the Pacific Ocean in the Pacific Northwest part of the country. Despite all the humidity, many of these cities are very popular with tourists and travelers and the most humid weather city in the country is also home to Vampires and Werewolves.

1) Forks, Washington - 83%
Forks, Washington is the most humid weather city in the United States with an average relative humidity of 83%. That is a very high humidity level to average on a daily basis for the whole year but it's understandable since Forks is also the 2nd wettest city in the United States as well as 3rd worst weather city in the country receiving only 33% of available sunshine yearly.
Forks, Washington is just about the most rainy, cloudy and humid city in the United States which is probably why author Stephenie Meyer chose Forks, Washington as the setting for her vampire series of books and movies called Twilight.
Forks is located in upper northwest Washington between the Pacific Ocean coast and Olympic National Park. With a population of just 3,500 Forks was relatively unknown but due to Twilight the city or really town has become something of a tourist attraction for Twilight fans.
2) Olympia, Washington - 78%
Olympia is located at the southern end of the Puget Sound at the end of Budd Inlet in northwestern Washington about 150 miles southeast of Forks as the crow flies. With a 78% average humidity reading Olympia is the 2nd most humid in city in the United States and in Washington. Olympia has a population of about 45,000 people.
3) Port Arthur, Texas - 77.5%
With an average humidity of 77.5% Port Arthur is the 3rd most humid city in the United States. Port Arthur is located along the western shores of Sabine Lake just inland from the Gulf of Mexico in southeastern Texas right across the border from Louisiana. About 60,000 people live in the major seaport city of Port Arthur.
4) Lake Charles, Louisiana - 77%
About 100 miles northwest of Port Arthur, Texas is the 4th most humid city in the country Lake Charles, Louisiana at 77% humidity. Lake Charles has a population of around 75,000 people and has a very active tourist trade centered around the casino hotels in the area especially the 26 story L'Auberge du Lac Casino Resort and Hotel. Lake Charles is not too far from the Texas border and draws gamblers from Texas, especially Houston along Interstate 10.
5) Apalachicola, Florida - 76.6%
At 76.6% humidity Apalachicola, Florida is the 5th most humid weather city in the United States. Located along the Gulf of Mexico in the panhandle of Florida the city of Apalachicola is located just southeast of the great beaches and hotels located in Panama City, Florida.
6) Gainesville, Florida - 76.5%
Located in north-central Florida the city of Gainesville has a population of 125,000 people and is home to the University of Florida which keeps the hotels in the city full especially when the University of Florida Gators are playing at home.
7) Corpus Christi, Texas - 76%
Located along the Gulf of Mexico in south Texas, the city of Corpus Christi is the 7th most humid weather city in the United States with an relative humidity level of 76%. Corpus Christi has a population of 290,000 and is a big tourist city in Texas located near Padre Island National Seashore.
8) Eugene, Oregon - 75.5%
Located along Interstate 5 in west-central Oregon the city of Eugene has a humidity level of 75.5% which is the 8th highest in the country. Eugene is the 2nd largest population city in Oregon with 155,000 people and is located in the Willamette Valley where the largest meteorite in the United States the Willamette Meteorite was found.
9) New Orleans, Louisiana - 75.4%
The Big Easy city of New Orleans is the 9th most humid city in the United States and 2nd most humid city in the state of Louisiana with 75.4% humidity. Like a bunch of other cities on this list, New Orleans is a big tourist city filled with attractions and hotels so travelers and tourists do not seem to mind high humidity levels.
10) Houston, Texas - 75%
Houston is the largest population city in Texas and the 4th largest in the United States with 2.3 million people. With an average relative humidity level of 75% Houston rounds out the list of most humid weather cities in the United States and is the third Texas city to make the list which is no surprise to people familiar with Texas.
