Record Hottest and Coldest Weather Temperatures Ever Recorded in Oakland, California

Weather temperatures have been officially kept in Oakland, California at various weather stations by the National Weather Service since 1894. These are the all-time record hottest and coldest temperatures ever recorded in Oakland since 1894.


Located on the east side of San Francisco Bay in Northern California, the city of Oakland has a much milder climate than the extremes found in the Golden State. I've been to Oakland a few times, especially the Oakland Coliseum for Oakland A's games, and would unquestionably call it a nice weather city. The sun was always shining when I was in Oakland, but I have never been to the city in the winter. Oakland averages about 24" of rain per year, and most of it falls from November through March.
Oakland's record highest temperature is quite a few degrees hotter than the record for San Francisco is. Oakland is located right across the bay from San Francisco.

The all-time record hottest weather temperature ever recorded in the state of California, and the world is 134 degrees, which occurred on July 10, 1913, in Death Valley, which is located about 400 miles southeast of Oakland.

Obviously, the city of Oakland never gets really cold, even in the winter. Since 1970, it has only dropped below 32 degrees 10 times in Oakland.

The coldest temperature ever officially recorded in the state of California is -45 degrees, which occurred on January 20, 1937, in Boca, a town that was located about 200 miles northeast of Oakland, but is now mostly submerged under the Boca Dam.
