Baltimore is one of the most historic, populated and most visited cities in the United States.
For all the people living in the Baltimore area and all the tourists thinking of visiting the city, here is a list of the hottest temperature records for each month of the year.
The list can be very useful for tourists visiting Baltimore at any time of the year. Also listed for each month are great places to visit in Baltimore during that time of the year.
In addition to the record hottest temperature and places to visit for each month, I'm also listing the date and year in which the record occurred. If you are not familiar with Baltimore you might be pretty surprised at some of the record hottest temperatures for each month.
The temperature records below date back to 1872. All the data is from the National Weather Service.
January—79 degrees
The record high temperature for January in Baltimore is 79 degrees which occurred on January 14, 1932 and on January 26, 1950. It's been 70 degrees or warmer in Baltimore in January dozens of times since 1872.
Since the weather can be cold and unpredictable in January, a great place to visit in the city during the first month of the year is the Baltimore Art Museum.
February—83 degrees
The record high temperature for February in Baltimore is 83 degrees which occurred on February 25, 1930. That is the only 80 degree day in Baltimore in February.
February is another month with unpredictable weather in the city. Another great indoor place to visit is the Walters Art Museum and both the Baltimore Art Museum and the Walters Art Museum are free admission.
March—90 degrees
The record high temperature for March in Baltimore is 90 degrees which occurred on March 24, 1945.
The best place to visit in Baltimore in March is the Maryland Science Center which has an IMAX theater, a planetarium and an observatory.
April—94 degrees
The record high temperature for April in Baltimore is 94 degrees which first occurred on April 18, 1896 and was matched on April 20, 1941 and on both April 23 and 25, 1960.
April is a great month to head over to the Clyburn Arboretum located at 4195 Greenspring Ave and watch Spring bloom in Baltimore.
May—98 degrees
The record high temperature for May in Baltimore is 98 degrees which first occurred on May 23, 1925. It's also been 98 degrees on May 22, 1941, May 19, 1962 and on May 30, 2011.
A great place to visit in May in Baltimore as the weather turns nice is the Rawlings Conservatory located in Druid Hill Park at 3100 Swann Drive.
June—105 degrees
The record high temperature for June in Baltimore is 105 degrees which occurred on June 29, 1934.
As the weather stays nice in June it's a great time to visit beautiful Camden Yards and take in a Baltimore Orioles major league baseball game.
July—107 degrees
The record high temperature for July in Baltimore is 107 degrees which occurred on July 10, 1936. The 107 degree temperature is the all-time record high for Baltimore.
July is a fun time in Baltimore to visit the Historic Ships in Baltimore maritime museum where you can see the USS Constellation sloop of war, as well as a Coast Guard cutter, a WW II submarine, a lightship and a screw-pile lighthouse.
August—105 degrees
The record high temperature for August in Baltimore is 105 degrees which occurred on both August 6 and 7, 1918, as well as on August 20, 1983.
August is a great month in Baltimore to visit historic Fort McHenry National Monument where the Star Spangled Banner national anthem was written by Francis Scott Key as the fort was under fire by the British in 1814 during the War of 1812.
September —101 degrees
The record high temperature for September in Baltimore is 101 degrees. That record high occurred on September 7, 1881. Only June, July, August and September have hit 100 degrees in the city.
The weather is still pretty good in September and it's a great time to visit and tour the Sagamore Spirit Distillery located at 301 E Cromwell Street.
October—97 degrees
The record high temperature for October in Baltimore is 97 degrees which occurred on October 5, 1941.
As the leaves change over and Halloween nears in Baltimore, October is a great time to visit the Nevermore Haunt, the scariest haunted house in Maryland located at 450 Mott Street.
November—86 degrees
The record high temperature for November in Baltimore is 86 degrees which occurred on November 1, 1960.
A great place to visit in November is the Top of the World Observation Level of the Baltimore World Trade Center located at 401 E Pratt Street. From the observation deck on the 27th floor you get great 360 degree views of the city and harbor.
December—77 degrees
The record high temperature for December in Baltimore is 77 degrees which occurred first on December 29, 1984, and was matched on both December 6 and 7, 1998.
Have fun in December by visiting the Christmas Village in Baltimore at 501 Light Street. Another great place to visit is the Baltimore Basilica which is a Catholic national shrine and very impressive architectural achievement located at 409 Cathedral Street.
