Located along Sarasota Bay in the Gulf of Mexico along Florida's southwestern coastline about 30 miles south of Tampa and 50 miles north of Fort Myers, the city of Sarasota has very mild weather variations in temperatures and much milder temperature variations than the extremes found in the state of Florida or in almost all cities in the United States.

All-Time Record Hottest Weather Temperature Ever Recorded in Sarasota is 101 Degrees

The hottest weather temperature ever officially recorded in Sarasota, Florida is 101 degrees which occurred on both August 1, 1972 and July 23, 1971.

Sarasota is certainly a warm weather city. Days when the temperature reaches 90 degrees or more have occurred in Sarasota in every month of the year except for January and February. Even though it is a warm weather city, 100 degree temperature days have only occurred in Sarasota a handful of times.

The hottest temperature ever recorded in the state of Florida is 109 degrees which occurred on June 29, 1931, in Monticello which is located about 270 miles north of Sarasota.

The difference between the all-time hottest temperature in Sarasota (101) and the all-time hottest temperature in Florida (109) is 8 degrees. Not a huge sized difference statistically. 

All-Time Record Coldest Weather Temperature Ever Recorded in Sarasota is 20 Degrees

The coldest weather temperature ever officially recorded in Sarasota, Florida is 20 degrees which occurred on December 26, 1983. 

Below freezing weather temperature days are not common in Sarasota and they only occur from November to March in any given year if they occur at all. 

  • Coldest Temperature Ever Recorded in Florida is -2 Degrees

The coldest temperature ever recorded in the state of Florida is -2 degrees, which occurred on February 13, 1899, in Tallahassee which is located about 290 miles northwest of Sarasota. On February 13, 1899, the Great Blizzard of 1899 struck the northeastern part of North America spreading record temperatures all the way down to Cuba and bringing the only below zero temperature reading ever recorded in Florida. 

The difference between the all-time coldest temperature ever recorded in Sarasota (20) and the all-time coldest temperature in the state of Florida (-2) is 22 degrees. A big difference and a much larger difference than the hottest temperatures between the city and the state.

Overall, Sarasota is a city with very moderate weather temperatures and this tropical paradise area on the west coast of the Sunshine State has a much milder climate in temperature variations than the extremes found in the state of Florida and in almost all cities in the United States.
