Record Hottest and Coldest Weather Temperatures Ever Recorded in Key Largo, Florida

Official weather records have been kept in Key Largo, Florida since 1936. Here are the record hottest and coldest temperatures ever recorded in Key Largo, Florida since 1936.



Located in extreme South Florida as the northernmost of key in the Florida Keys about 60 miles south of Miami, Key Largo  has very mild weather variations in temperatures and much milder temperature variations than the extremes found in the state of Florida or in almost all cities in the United States. 

Key Largo was made famous by Hollywood when the movie of the same name was made in 1948 starring Humphrey Bogart and Lauren Bacall. Today, Key Largo is a very popular tourist destination and is known as the Diving Capital of the World and the area is very popular with fishermen and boat enthusiasts who love the warm sunny climate.

All-Time Record Hottest Weather Temperature Ever Recorded in Key Largo is 98 Degrees

The hottest weather temperature ever officially recorded in Key Largo, Florida is 98 degrees which occurred on August 14, 1957 and September 3, 1963.

Key Largo is certainly a warm weather city. Days when the temperature reaches 90 degrees or more have occurred in Key Largo in every month of the year except for January, February and December. Even though it gets hot In Key Largo the island has never had a 100 degree weather temperature day.
  • Hottest Temperature Ever Recorded in Florida is 109 Degrees

The hottest temperature ever recorded in the state of Florida is 109 degrees which occurred on June 29, 1931, in Monticello which is located about 500 miles northwest of Key Largo.

The difference between the all-time hottest temperature in Key Largo (98) and the all-time hottest temperature in Florida (109) is 11 degrees. Not a huge sized difference statistically. 

All-Time Record Coldest Weather Temperature Ever Recorded in Key Largo is 35 Degrees

The coldest weather temperature ever officially recorded in Key Largo, Florida is 35 degrees which occurred on January 13, 1981 and December 24, 1989. 

Below freezing weather temperature days have never occurred in Key Largo. Most of us can just dream of living in such a place especially in the winter. 

  • Coldest Temperature Ever Recorded in Florida is -2 Degrees

The coldest temperature ever recorded in the state of Florida is -2 degrees, which occurred on February 13, 1899, in Tallahassee which is located about 520 miles northwest of Key Largo. On February 13, 1899, the Great Blizzard of 1899 struck the northeastern part of North America spreading record temperatures all the way down to Cuba and bringing the only below zero temperature reading ever recorded in Florida. 

The difference between the all-time coldest temperature ever recorded in Key Largo (35) and the all-time coldest temperature in the state of Florida (-2) is 37 degrees. A big difference and a much larger difference than the hottest temperatures between the city and the state.

Overall, Key Largo is a city with very moderate weather temperatures and this tropical paradise area made famous by Hollywood in the Sunshine State has a much milder climate in temperature variations than the extremes found in the state of Florida and in almost all cities in the United States.
