The coldest temperature ever recorded in the state of Florida is -2 degrees, which occurred on February 13, 1899, in Tallahassee which is located about 200 miles west of St. Augustine. On February 13, 1899, the Great Blizzard of 1899 struck the northeastern part of North America spreading record temperatures all the way down to Cuba and bringing the only below zero temperature reading ever recorded in Florida.
The difference between the all-time coldest temperature ever recorded in St. Augustine (10) and the all-time coldest temperature in the state of Florida (-2) is 12 degrees. A big difference and a much larger difference than the hottest temperatures between the city and the state.
Overall, St. Augustine is a city with very moderate weather temperatures and this historic and popular tourist area along the northern east coast of the Sunshine State has a much milder climate in temperature variations than the extremes found in the state of Florida and in almost all cities in the United States.
